Commonwood

TEAM WIKI · EARLY RELEASE

Free for up to 25 people. One flat price after that.

Commonwood is a team wiki: spaces, pages, live docs, databases and whiteboards. We host a free demo. Paid plans run on your own server or cloud account, with no per-user fees, however many people join.

No card. No set end date. Built with our first organizations.

Sharing knowledge shouldn’t cost more with every person you add.

Per-user pricing charges you for every new hire, contractor and working-group member. On a paid Commonwood plan you run the server, so we don’t charge as if we did.

What’s included

Organize it

Team and personal spaces, nested page trees, labels, templates, search, starred and recent pages, archive and trash.

Write it together

Real-time co-editing, comments and reactions, mentions, tasks, and full revision history you can compare and restore.

Keep it in order

Publishing approvals with a review queue, page properties and reports, reusable excerpts, groups, and inherited permissions.

Do more than pages

Databases with table, board and gallery views. Whiteboards. Space calendars. Diagrams and roadmaps.

Share what should be public

Publish a page or a whole space to anonymous readers. Everything is private until you say otherwise.

Take it with you

Export to Markdown and HTML, or move a whole organization between installations with a portable archive.

Two ways to run it

Try it free on our demo.

Sign up and start in minutes. Up to 25 people per organization and 1 GB of attachments, with no set end date. It’s a demo, so keep your own copy of anything important: we may clear data at any time, and we’ll let you know first.

Or run it yourself. Your server, your cloud, your basement.

Commonwood runs with Docker on a single Linux machine, with PostgreSQL and Redis included. It works inside a private network, without public DNS or an email server. Your data stays in your own database. Sign in through your own identity provider using OpenID Connect.

Coming from Confluence?

If you use Confluence, Commonwood’s spaces and page trees will feel familiar. From Confluence Cloud, you can bring over pages, blog posts and attachments, with a preview and warnings first. Permissions, comments, page history and most macros don’t come across. Data Center import isn’t available yet.

Data Center becomes read-only on 28 March 2029.

Paid plans are billed annually and count members who can sign in and edit; read-only guests and public readers are free. One license covers one production installation for one organization. On the free demo, everyone with access counts toward the 25, including guests and pending invitations.

For comparison, Confluence’s free plan covers 10 users and 2 GB of file storage (checked on 25 October 2026).

What it doesn’t do yet

Commonwood is a release candidate, and we’d rather you hear this from us:

Questions

Is the demo really free?

Yes. No card and no set end date. It’s a demo, though: we don’t take responsibility for storage, and we may delete data at any time. We’ll email you first. For something you can rely on, run Commonwood on your own server.

Who counts toward the limit?

On the free demo, everyone with access, including guests and pending invitations. On paid plans, members who can sign in and edit. Public readers never count.

Where is our data?

On the free demo, on our server in Germany. On paid plans, on the server you choose.

Can we move from the demo to our own server?

Yes, using a portable archive of your content, within its limits: 5,000 items, 100 MB compressed and 25 MB per attachment. Accounts don’t transfer, so you’d invite people again.

Do you offer paid hosting?

Not today. Paid plans run on your own server or cloud account.

Can we see the source code?

The code is proprietary. Source access is available to government clients under agreement.
